Hi Folks!

New Member here, soon to be a new owner, well technically I'm already the new owner but soon to take delivery of my new 1.3i. The car should be arriving early April and the wait is tough but will be worth it. I'll link a pic below but not sure if it will work. Just wanted to stop in and say hello and tell you I'm glad to be here on mf.

Every time I hear about one of these 'updated spec' cars it makes me wonder if it's as hard to 'update' them as they say it is

They're not "up"dated at all - it's a genuine late spec car, but the paper work is frigged to get it through customs of countries where ya can't import it unless it's a classic - and adding 20 or so fake years onto its age does this job perfectly. :-S

No you miss my point, I know that. I wish I could 'update' my spi and bring it to California when I move over there, but I've read that in Cali in particular they're pretty hot on imports

She is a mighty clean looking ride, especially for a 1977 I must admit

Every month Mini World seems to feature a Mini from USA, sometimes from California... they're usually fairly tricked up, but it does seem there's a roaring trade in pulling the wool over the US imports people who are none the wiser about how old a car really is. It might involve the purchase of a "shell and V5C" from ebay I would expect. Might be worth getting in touch with a US based forum to see if they have some advice for you?
