What music are you driving to??

Postby M1NHJ on Tue 20th Jul 2010, 09:08pm

We have discussed all sorts of preparation for our cars, and camping equipment - (please not one more mention of SoG's tent :censored: ).

So what are your fave driving songs to listen to? I am loading up my ipod right now with my choices which run from Kings of Leon, Black Eyed Peas etc to the Eagles, Robbie Williams, West Life and some classic Swing tunes. Perhaps a bit naff but they keep me happy and I think I have a Top Gear top driving songs cd somewhere that may need downloading too 8.) I may even raid the teens tunes for some loud stuff to keep me awake

Always a difficult shout when there is such an age difference between the crew members. First year I relented and let Joe choose his quite mixed but very modern stuff, and countered it by putting the sleeping bags on the floor in the back in front of the 6x9s under the seat :D

Last year we chose 90 tracks each, cut them to an mp3 CD and put it on random, so we had late 2000s idie and a bit of hip-hop mixed with late 70s soul and disco. Which was nice.

This year I don't really care, cos we can play what we like when we get there at the Black Group disco. Guest list to follow

hahahahhaaaaa!!!! Queer - givin' it the induction roar, morale high ground; the man with multiple speakers, amps and a sub. Oh, I suppose you'll be taking those out to reduce weight?

Its only boring cos you ain't got a s/c!

(I am so going to regret that comment when my ears start to bleed, shortly after the car is finished; assuming my wallet or the misses haven't bled me dry first)

Seeing as I am going it alone, I have decided today (whilst bored at work) to get more music sorted - so just ordered the 30th Anniversary CD from Whitesnake - awesome. At least it will ensure I will stay unbothered by others wanting a change from sitting with their Dads

Funny you starting this thread, I was considering my tune selection too, I have yet to complete the SoG compilation but it will include the following:

ARRIVING AT FERRY

Vera Lynn - The White Cliffs of Dover
The National Anthem
Rule Brittania
Land of Hope and Glory

Driving through France and Belgium .. yet to decide

BEHIND ENEMY LINES ( Germany)

I think I will go a bit classical / radical...

633 Squadron
Offenbach - Infernal Gallop
Dambusters Theme tune
Battle of Britain - Ron Goodwin
Jerusalem

Around the Ring
Orff - O Fortuna
Rossini - William Tell The Finale

Classic stuff Senile!!

How about the theme from The Longest Day for arrival on the other side of the pond.

Then perhaps the theme from A Bridge Too Far for the drive to the ring, you could even stick your head out of the sunroof like Edward Fox waving to the crowds of 'liberated' locals! 'Were going to drive like hell up this road!'

Theme from Where Eagles Dare upon arrival at the Schloss, sorry Schleife!

& its got to be the theme from The Great Escape for leaving the campsite when its time to go home!!

Yippee :!: New stereo installed - thanks to I am Mr Bridger and Chris :D

Went to Halfords on friday evening, to ask them to check my connection ( :!: ). They said they cant do work like that after 7pm, but proceeded to poke about the sides of the unit with some little metal sticks which bent :!: The lad then straightened them out and put them back on the shelf instore :?

They suggested we came back on Saturday when they will have more time to sort it out - so back Mr B and Chris went. After much poking and jabbing with yet more metal bits, they said that it was a very complicated matter, which would need them having the car booked in for at least 2 1/2 hours  Apparently they needed to take out half of the dash, centre console, carpets and goodness knows what else #-o Thankfully Mr B & Chris brought the car home, dismantled a couple of screws and managed within 20 mintutes to have the whole thing sorted out. They went back, bought the unit and installed it themselves - all in 20 mins :D

Super happy now

Just need to spend 6 hours wading through the instructions to work it all out - otherwise I will get Matt to show me (it will only take him 2 mins to work out how to do everything #-o )

This is why Hal-fraud's fitting service is free; because they couldnt justify actually charging for it!

Kitty, go for pink  So long as you love it, it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks :P I suppose if you are bothered that it doesnt match Robbies glorious purple, you could always respray him to match your new stereo

Alternatively, hang up some pink dice and dye your hair pink so you look co-ordinated :) I am going red to match my car   - well it beats the natural grey #-o

As you know, I'm the Iconyx's oldest fan! Is there a way of getting your 12Gb out easily, to a twin RCA feed or something - so as we can plumb it in to the BGSS (Black Group Sound System) :D

Have just got to grips with the controls of the new stereo and the sound is brilliant :D Even got a grunt of respect from Boy cos it has plenty of bass

Uploading my latest cd as I type - so I should have a totally eclectic mix to listen to. However, Mr B is quite upset at the return to my youth with all the 'Greebo' Whitesnake  Think thats because my mispent youth was mainly riding pillion on superbikes - before I met him

Now I am into all this ipod downloaing etc I have to find out what was No 1 back in August 1985 and down load that, seeing as we are going to be celebrating 25yrs of wedded bliss (I am blissful!!) when we get back from the ring :D

Download frostwire free from google
Set it up and get it kick started ready to roll
sometimes depending on your internet connection you can do 2 - 3 songs at once..
and they all save in your documents..

getting them on to your Ipod, it should be done through USB connected to the computer then go to my computer or "computer" and you'll find a symbol or a name of your Ipod, and open that file up and transfer the songs from your documents to your Ipod.

It should be simple depending on your skill of computers

At this present time SoG has requested for a trade in persons..

SoG would like my dad (paul) to be his passenger so he can talk about 70's and 80's music
and for me to have his son knobber, and i wonder what we would talk about? PS3 & XBOX games? Climate change? Football?

Any suggestions? lol..

Is this a good offer .... Baring in mind i haven't a stereo player in my clubman, so it could get boring for Knobber

Sounds like an excellent swap if I were you.

And once we are set up in the campsite, SoG and Paul will find as much 70s and 80s music as they could want over in the Black corner..............

Come on Adz, Knobber is a great kid and from the amount of 'rattle' you put on here, I bet the poor kid will be begging for his Dad after the first 20 miles  As for music - what is the problem with the 70s and 80s :?: Some of the very best tunes ever were written then, and strangley lots of the tunes today pinch bits from them :D

I think that there could well be swapping of kids (apart from Chris and Claire who are welded to their car!!), but most of us oldies love the 70s and 80s so watch out
